(B) Echinocandins cause cell wall stress by inhibiting β-1,3-glucan synthase. The calcineurin, protein kinase C (PKC), and high osmolarity glycerol response (HOG) pathways allow cells to adapt to cell wall stress via compensatory cell wall biosynthesis and remodeling.
